Civil War Poem

A poem by Kenzie Clerk

History, second period.

The Civil War

The bullets go by,

I watch them soar.

They will soon bring pain to someone,

I would hate to endure.

I close my eyes; and try not to think.

About the fear I will soon bring.

I pull the trigger as the tears escape,

As a bullet flies to bring a man's fate.

The bullet glides

I see the red splatter,

As his gun falls down with a loud clatter.

He falls to his knees,

From his chest he bleeds.

And I’m off to find another.

                  Kong: Skull Island

The Movie I’m doing this week is Kong: Skull Island. This movie is a remake of the old movies King Kong who was a giant ape the size of a skyscraper. In the movie some people travel to a unidentified island to research it and find Kong. After they realize that he's good they try and help them.  The movie is great and was an amazing experience It was really good I’d give it a 9/10.

Earth Day

Get your green thumb ready because April 22 is Earth Day. Earth Day is a day dedicated to going green and giving back to the environment. People plant trees, power down electronics and go outside. We’re causing climate change with everyday activities such as driving or using electricity. Some people are causing deforestation and think they can just plant more trees and everything will be all right.  In case you haven’t noticed it takes trees nearly a hundred years to grow to full size. Killing trees releases carbon into the atmosphere which is a huge contributor to global warming. The Earth Day organization is currently working on a project called reforestation. It’s nice to have a day that recognizes going green but I think we should try to go green everyday. We may then actually make a difference and fight climate change. So what are you waiting for? Turn off your computer and go outside!

NBA

The NBA regular season is coming to an end. Right now in the Western Conference, the number one seed is the Golden State Warriors. They have had a great season. Kevin Durant got injured but he is now back and played a great game. The San Antonio Spurs are ranked 2nd. They lost one of their star players Tim Duncun. He retired last season but now they have Demarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, who are two all-star players. The Houston Rockets are in third place because of their best player James Harden who is a three point specialist.

In the eastern conference it had been tough between the Cavaliers and the Celtics. Right now the Cleveland Cavaliers are ranked number one in the east with Lebron James leading his team to the playoffs. The number two seed is the Celtics who has been fighting with Cleveland for the first seed. The Celtics star player is Isiah Thomas he is only 5’9. The Toronto Raptors are ranked the number three seed with their star player Demar DeRozan is helping his time go to the playoffs. It has been a great regular season and I can not wait for the playoffs. It should be exciting.

Movie Review-Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast was a really good movie. I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is for all ages. In my opinion there was a little too much singing in the movie yet it was still well performed. It is about a girl named Belle who loves adventures and wants to find her true prince. People in the village think she is odd because she is always reading books. Does she know that soon she will meet her prince? Her father gets lost and Belle sets off to find him. She will soon find out the curse that the world will hold. Little does she know she is the key to the curse.
